Photo Album

Children listen, remembering the feel of mother's arms
How her milk tasted on dry lips
Toy filled closets become empty hugs
Where have the Saturday afternoons gone?
Climbing trees as fall drips upon the nose
The excitement of Christmas and milkshakes
It disappears in the motion of a word
Pushed by the power of idle conversation
Fat men on the couch with their ideas
Patronizing relics as they hold the trophies of the titans
Dreams lie in the dirt of blue collars
Hidden among rewards of weekly gratitude
Believing the folklore, the new age sits upon the acrylic and meditates
Becoming the pictures in a photo album
Dreaming of greatness and Nobel prizes
